An external account is a bank account you have outside looch and use with looch. looch auto-enters a transfer from an accounting-enrolled external account as a transfer, while the cash deposit’s own 'Received money' transaction needs an income category. looch treats a transfer from a personal external account as a personal deposit, so business money needs the 'Personal' tag removed before you choose an income category. An accounting-enrolled external account costs $10/month per account.

Categorize cash in an accounting-enrolled external account
Go to Cash, then Activity in the nav bar. The transfer to looch reads 'Transfer' and 'Entered' because looch already entered it as a transfer. The cash deposit reads 'Not entered'.
Tap the cash deposit to open its 'Received money' screen.
Tap the category card to open 'Received money:Category'.
Choose the income category that fits, or tap 'Help me choose' if you’re unsure. looch applies the category and returns to the transaction.
Tap 'Enter'. The button changes to 'Entered'.
Categorize cash moved from a personal external account
Go to Cash, then Activity in the nav bar.
Tap the transfer from your personal account. Its 'Received money' screen shows it entered with the 'Personal' tag on.
Tap the 'Personal' tag in the tag bar at the bottom of the screen if the cash was business money and the personal account was only used for convenience. The transaction then reads 'Not entered'.
Tap the category card to open the category list, then choose the right income category.
Tap 'Enter'. The button changes to 'Entered'.
Each external account type appears differently
An accounting-enrolled external account is $10/month per account, and its transactions are categorized with your books, so the cash deposit appears in the activity feed.
A personal external account has no subscription, and its transactions don’t appear in your activity feed, so only the transfer to looch appears.
The 'Suggested' filter on a 'Received money' category list puts income categories first.
To change an entered transaction’s category, tap 'Entered' to mark it 'Not entered' first.
Questions about cash deposits
Why doesn’t the cash I deposited show up in looch?
A personal external account’s transactions don’t appear in looch’s activity feed, so only the transfer does. An accounting-enrolled external account shows the deposit as a 'Received money' transaction.
Do I need to categorize the transfer to looch too?
looch auto-enters a transfer from an accounting-enrolled external account as a transfer.
Why is my personal transfer marked Personal?
looch treats the transfer as a personal deposit and auto-enters it using the category that fits the business’ entity type and tax treatment. For business money, tap 'Personal' to un-enter it and choose an income category.
What if I’m not sure which income category to pick?
On looch’s category list, tap 'Help me choose'.
Can I change the category after it’s entered?
In looch, tap 'Entered' to mark the transaction 'Not entered', then change the category.
